    Education / Licensure / Certification:

    Masters of Divinity from an accredited seminary or equivalent. One year Clinical Pastoral Education or its equivalent. 

    NC Driver's License
    Certification by Association of Professional Chaplains or ACPE, or another approved Health Care Chaplaincy Certifying body, i.e, AJC or NACC, required.


    2 Years Healthcare Chaplaincy
    Prior Leadership/Supervisory role

    Ability to use therapeutic communication skills for crisis intervention.
    Knowledge and skill in leadership of work groups
    Ability to provide spiritual and emotional care to individuals across the life span.
    Knowledge of and ability to do effective Spiritual Assessments

    Light Work

    Job Description:

    To function as a site leader and member of the Department for Spiritual Care and Wholeness, providing pastoral care and counseling to patients, families and staff of the Health System. This position serves all age groups in the Health System.

    Provides site leadership for Spiritual Care Services including participation in leadership meetings: oversight of volunteers, CPE Residents if assigned, and other designated staff on the campus. 20%

    Provides direct spiritual/emotional care across the life span to patients, families and staff. Documents all patient consultations, encounters and spiritual assessments in timely manner. Provides follow up referrals to other chaplains and other disciplines as appropriate. Provides educational leadership for patients, families, and staff to promote adjustment and promotes psychological growth. 30%

    Assists patients in completion of Advanced Directives as requested 10%

    Participates in departmental responsibilities including: 1. Leadership of or supports offering of requested rituals and services in support of patients and staff. 2. Timely response to emergency/urgent request for
    Chaplaincy services 3. Initiate and participates in Departmental Program/Educational Offerings to hospital and community 4. Support of Code Lavender as requested 15%

    Participates in hospital committees and interdisciplinary efforts as requested or assigned in support of the vision and mission of the department and the Health System. 15%

    Provides consultation and offers educational presentations in support of the Clinical Pastoral Education Program and Congregational Nursing Program as requested 10%
